Food For a Week
Wouldn't it be fun to choose 1 healthy food to focus on for a week?
Whatever the food, eat it 3 times/week.
Notice how many times you hear something about that food for 1 week.
You might be thinking, "WHY?"
Maybe we'll ...
find a new food we like it.
try a new a recipe.
add years to our lives.
pass on good habits to our children.
prevent a serious disease.
change up our routine a little.
My food for the week is...BROCCOLI!
You might be thinking, "WHY?"
- Broccoli has as much calcium as a glass of milk.
- Contains more vitamin C than an orange.
- 1 cup of brocc has double the amount of vitamin C than in an orange.
- Reduces cataracts & heart disease.
- Reduces blood cholesterol levels.
- Helps GI tract. (Might help w/the gas! Your spouse might appreciate you trying it!)
- Inhibits growth of leading cause of stomach ulcers.
- Has 5 grams of fiber per cup.
- Fights cancer. (To test cancer fighting, scientists fed rats a healthy serving of brocc a few days. Afterwards, rats were exposed to stuff that triggers a certain type of breast cancer. The brocc eating rats were 1/2 as likely to develop tumors. The rats who developed tumors had smaller and fewer tumors.)
MY FAVORITE REASON TO EAT BROCCOLI
only 25 calories per cup raw
only 25 calories per 1/2 cup cooked
We could eat a whole broccoli tree & not add to the cheesy thighs!!!
CHALLENGE: Eat broccoli 3 times between now & next Friday!
Eat it raw, cooked, in salads, w/dips, on the side, in a dish.
You can eat it here or there. You can it eat anywhere.
You can eat it here or there. You can it eat anywhere.
(maybe next week, we'll try Oreos)
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you?
You are not your own; you were bought with a price.
Therefore, honor God with your body."
